My self-summary
I just relocated to Washington DC to take on a role as a leader in the public school system. One thing that makes me different than a lot of people is that I've always known (since I was about 3) that I was going to become an educator. In my roles as a teacher and now school leader, I've come to recognize just how lucky I am to get up every morning passionate about what I do.

I am definitely not perfect... but my goal has always been to work towards improving the imperfect features while cherishing and counting my blessings for the gifts I have. I'm not looking for a soul mate; instead I feel that by putting myself out there and just being me (which includes the good, the bad and the ugly) one day my soul mate and I will just find ourselves in the same place at the same time. It is that hope that fuels me to simply be open to what is out there.

I make friends easily and I share my time and my energy with the tremendous people who enrich my life. I enjoy meeting people, I enjoy listening to them talk about things they love and I enjoy finding a common interest to build a friendship from. Everyone comes with their own unique story.

When it comes to relationships, I am truth-oriented. I am loyal, caring but I am not afraid to talk about tough stuff and try to handle small issues before they become bigger ones. I look to earn trust by being trustworthy. I am interested in people who look at success in a broad way. Yes, being handsome and taking care of yourself is important - but so is having an actual mind that not only works, but works to expand. I am especially open to all races... and in fact have been on record with my prediction that I'll marry a man of color. We shall see how the fates play out!

I am doing my best to get to what a guy named Maslow called 'self-actualization'. I am trying to become a person who ultimately secures a destiny that leaves a positive impact and legacy on those lives I can touch. I'm not always successful, but I try my very best.

I am opinionated, dedicated, and caring. And I enjoy life for all it offers... every day is a new day to take a step forward. And no, I'm not this preachy all the time. But I do like to stay inspired.
What I’m doing with my life
As I've mentioned, I just arrived in Washington DC to take on a district level school leadership role. I moved from Charlotte, NC where I proudly worked as an 7th/8th Grade Social Studies and Language Arts teacher. Before that, I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan, a city that shaped who I am and what I stand for.

I completed with my master's degree in school administration... very excited about that. I graduated in May 2012... and now I plan on looking into doctoral possibilities. I have a HUGE love for cities where I could use my work ethic and talent in order to help bring about positive change...

I love traveling. I love constantly thinking. I'd like to get more involved in my new community here in Washington - especially through civic volunteer efforts. I enjoy being a great friend to people near and far... however, I have recently realized that it's important to take time for yourself. That's why you'll see my thick booty back in the gym a lot more lately (not that thick boys can't be awesome).
I’m really good at
Being strong about who I am and what I want. Working with others to find some common ground. Caring about people, but not sugar coating the issues. Dealing with stress. Multitasking.
The first things people usually notice about me
The fact I am pretty articulate. I like talking and getting to know people. Oh, and my eyes. I have some gorgeous eyes!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - love good political reads, newspapers, magazines... anything to expand my mind.

Movies - movies that make me think and reflect or make me laugh.

Music - I would say I'm stuck in the 80's and 90's... I know, I know...

Food - Willing to try anything. Hate some of those green vegetables my mother forced me to eat.
Six things I could never do without
1. My family
2. My closest best friends
3. My integrity
4. My dreams
5. My camera
6. My sense of purpose/direction
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I can influence the world positively. How I can show my friends and family more often how I care about them. How I can be a better teacher.
On a typical Friday night I am
Relaxing with friends at a local place for dinner and a drink. Maybe going out for a drink or two afterward, but not all that often. Or sharing some quiet time with someone special. Depends on the night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have driven people away who tend to not like someone calling them out on their crap. I attempt to have tact, but I refuse to sweep important things under the rug. Rest assured, I will work hard with the other person to find a resolution to issues that come up. Being hurt by the necessary truth is better than being lied to and strung along. The necessary truth, to me, empowers both friends or partners to hopefully find the right way to grow. I don't want to hurt people through deceits. I don't want to be hurt that way either.
You should message me if
You are intelligent, caring, insightful person who takes care of themselves and has big dreams. In short, I seek Ambitious people with goals in life who attempt to make those goals become reality. You work hard, you are confident in who you are and you have some idea of what you want from yourself and the world.
