My self-summary
I'm an American teaching English in Suwon. Still very new to Korea, but I'm hoping to learn Korean quickly!

People have called me quiet, but that's only before they get to know me; I choose my words carefully, and make sure that I understand what I'm talking about beforehand! I love to discuss virtually anything, and I enjoy being challenged.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working as an ESL teacher at a hagwon in Suwon. My students are great, and I've been given many recommendations about where to go, both for food and travel!

Before I came to Korea, I was very interested in conventions, and have been to PAX, Otakon, and Dragon Con! I watch lots of bad movies, read often, and love to scuba dive, although with my current income it's too expensive to go often :( I also used to volunteer at an animal shelter, but I'm not sure how realistic it is to do that here.
I’m really good at
Dealing with crises. Some fun stories, if you'd care to ask. I also play a mean game of Overwatch (as a rule, only characters where I don't have to aim well!), and if by some chance you have Lord of the Rings trivia, I'm your man.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes, particularly the color (blue) and my long eyelashes (weird on a guy, I know!). My picture doesn't show it, but I wear glasses, which do tend to accentuate/enlarge eyes.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love the Lord of the Rings, and anything related to J.R.R. Tolkien and his works. I enjoy science fiction and fantasy primarily, especially Isaac Asimov, but some of my favorite books are classics in other genres (the Count of Monte Cristo, the Tao te Ching, and Heart of Darkness, among many more). I'm a bit of a bibliophile, and if you have any suggestions I'll happily take them! Right now I'm working through the Hyperion series, by Dan Simmons.

I also love to watch bad movies; my friends and I enjoy finding the worst movies possible. We've all agreed that Birdemic is the absolute worst movie, although we've seen a number of other terrible ones (The Room, Troll 2, Plan 9 from Outer Space, etc.). I enjoy good movies as well, and I'm open to watching pretty much anything.

I don't watch a lot of TV right now, but when I did it tended to be comedy. Adult Swim was always a favorite (although they sometimes have things that I don't like at all), and I do enjoy watching anime, partially because I'm hoping to retain some of the Japanese I learned in college.
Six things I could never do without
My friends
My family
My laptop
The Lord of the Rings
My bed (tried once, never again)
A sense of humor
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Depending on who I've been spending time with, I think about religion and politics fairly frequently (that's what happens when one of your best friends quits his job to become a pastor). Now I'm mostly thinking about teaching, since my days are consumed with it.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out and about exploring! Then it's back to lesson planning and prepping for work =(
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I've only ever had two serious girlfriends, and only one for longer than a year. I'm not on here to float around between women, I'm hoping to find someone with whom I can really connect well; that's how I prefer to date.
You should message me if
Message me if you're up for a committed relationship; I want someone I can really connect with. I'd love to hang out and get to know you!

Being perfectly honest, I'm looking for someone who shares, at least to some extent, my fluency in sarcasm and my snarky attitude. I would take a bullet for my friends and family (not to mention a significant other), but I do like to poke fun, and I'm hoping to meet someone that can dish it out as well (as long as it's well-intentioned), and that definitely includes making fun of me too! A good sense of humor is essential.
