My self-summary
I am a nerd. When I am not doing the whole grad student thing, I usually am playing games with my friends, games on the computer, cooking/baking something tasty, or reading.

When season permits I also enjoy hiking and apple picking. In my opinion, autumn is the best season. The temperature has finally become reasonable again, the foliage in the Northeast is beautiful, and I can go apple picking.
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently a graduate student at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering at the University of Albany.
I’m really good at
Science! I don't know where I would be without science. It has provided me with a purpose for most of my life. It is amazing to see the way the universe fits together.

I am also good at baking and cooking. I prefer baking though because it allows me to very precisely measure everything and make something wonderful.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my smile or my laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My two favorite books are 'The Stars My Destination' by Alfred Bester and 'Stranger in a Strange Land' by Robert Heinlein. Other good authors include, but are not limited to, J. R. R. Tolkien, Frank Herbert, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Orson Scott Card, Susanna Clarke, Isaac Asimov, Neil Gaiman, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, and Brent Weeks.

My favorite bands are Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I enjoy most rock music, a bit of metal, swing music, and classical.

My favorite movies in general are either sci-fi/fantasy or animated by pixar. I really enjoyed Inception, Requiem for a Dream, Up, and Wall-E. I usually avoid horror movies, except psychological thrillers such as Silence of the Lambs.
Six things I could never do without
Books, Music, Friends, Science, Imagination, Family
I spend a lot of time thinking about
a lot of things. Sometimes I am just figuring out what I am doing for the week, other times I am trying to figure out how people work. Many times people have told me that I think too much, but I never really understood what they meant by that. In any case, I am happy to argue almost anything with almost anybody. I have found that arguing can be fun as long as it is an intellectual discussion and no one gets angry.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with my friends. We usually start with a nice meal and then play some board games or computer/video games.
