:: a sensitive bookworm who gets excited about music, ideas, and radical politics ::
I am an introverted trans* lesbian who is trying to come out of her shell a little more socially. Originally from Ohio, I'm now at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, working towards a Ph.D. in quantum gravity and quantum cosmology (theoretical physics) and critical theory / gender theory / post-colonial theory / womens studies (after a M.Sc. and B.A. in physics & astronomy, with an almost-major in mathematics, and instigator behind my college's film program).
I'm also a DJ, composer, and producer for The T3Records Network (as well as Def Jux-affiliates Paramanu Recordings and TornFormDrawing (TFD), and Soulseek Records), as well as a screenwriter-director-producer for PsyDys Media.
I would sign to labels like Mush, Warp, Def Jux, Marine Parade, Ghostly International, etc.
My debut album, "Chisei" (as TWISTOR «重力の影»), should be coming out soon, after a long string of mixes and EPs.
"William Hooker used to say, 'Who speaks through you?' Records speak through you, you play a mix. It's a reflection of your taste, so it's collective and you become part of the mix. What we do is take the original and then change it. The new instrument is the human mind itself because you can riff off all these memories"
- Paul D. Miller
My role models are BT, DJ Spooky, and Imogen Heap, along with Brian Swimme, Ken Wilber, and Vandana Shiva (amongst many others).
When I'm not making music or writing equations, I like to study integral theory, the effects of physics on religion / philosophy and gender / sexuality studies and (deep) ecology, especially how deconstruction and even queer theory is a natural side-effect of quantum theory, for which I'm slowly writing a book, "becominginfinite: Chaosophy and the Quantum Foundations of Mysticism, Ecology, and Critical Theory".
I was raised a FGC Quaker (SPICE: simplicity, peace, integrity, community, and equality), but now most identify with trans-integral theory / deep ecology / chaosophy / nondualism, in the tradition of Brian Swimme, Ken Wilber, Ervin Laszlo, Zen/Daoism/PLUR, etc..... still with strong Quaker connections.
"A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later, such a religion will emerge."
— Carl Sagan
"I believe in Spinoza's God who reveals Himself in the orderly harmony of what exists, not in a God who concerns himself with fates and actions of human beings."
— Albert Einstein
Roughly INTJ, homeschooled/unschooled, got into college at 13. I'm trained in Therapeutic Touch and hypnosis, and I'm working on becoming a reiki master :)
I grew-up on various permaculture-based farms and ecovillages around Ohio - so I'm kind of an ecology freak :)
I've been to the UK (2005), Australia (2007), Ireland (2008) [where I was a WWOOFer, mostly in West Cork ], Sicily (2010), Poland (2011), The Bahamas (2012), and Canada (several times), and am completely in love with all of them :)
"The cosmological powers of the Universe are coursing through us moment by moment. To become aware of these powers is to touch the source of life."
- Prof. Brian Swimme, Ph.D. (CIIS)
I really hope to be a professor at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, ON (with Lee Smolin & Fotini Markopoulou-Kalamara) and/or the California Institute of Integral Stidies (CIIS) in San Francisco, CA (with Brian Swimme in the Philosophy, Cosmology, and Consciousness program) and/or the European Graduate School in Switzerland (with Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky) one day, while simultaneously running my record label, DJ-ing, and making the occasional film.
Right now it's mostly just PhD work.... research and teaching....
I also help run a number of activist organizations on campus, and internationally.
I'm also kinda shy ... but "very sweet" - I've often been compared to a big teddy bear, or called "fluffy" (for my soft and Einstein-like hair).
My bibles are Roger Penrose's "The Road to Reality: A Complete Guide to the Laws of the Universe" and Ken Wilber's "Sex, Ecology, Spirituality: The Spirit of Evolution" / "A Brief History of Everything", and more recently Thomas Thiemann's "Modern Canonical Quantum General Relativity".
I read pretty much constantly, mostly non-fiction, but fiction as well.....

Science & Critical Theory
Very flexible, actually - I spent most of college and grad school so far on just 4 hours of sleep per night - I'm trying not to do that as much now ;)
For someone who is very, very unfortunately restricted to a pair of XY chromosomes, I'm very femme; conversely I'm rather butch for a womyn-identified person - basically I am trying to transcend and subvert the butch-femme and gender (continuum) dialectics!!! :)
I'm actually pretty closeted, and can pass for straight as necessary (physics-academia tends to be oppressive in this regard).
My BFF is choirqueer :)
I'm a registered Green (in Ohio), though I'm not sure how useful traditional political structures are, especially in light of the current neocon hegemony / corporate oligarchy.....
... you came across my profile and thought to yourself "she might be cute, sexy, and/or interesting." I promise that I wont (non-consensually) bite.
"Gay" is not really accurate: I am usually attracted to ciswomen and various trans* and gender-variant people, but not cismen - if you're in the latter category (and you know what that means), we could still be friends, but I probably won't be interested in anything romantic with you.... :)
I'm attracted to a wide variety of womyn: butches, femmes, bois, trans* girls, dykes, straight, genderqueer folk, genderqueer, cis, androgynous, bigender, label-free people and everything in between. Gender variance fascinates me to no end. So, basically, if you're
1. Intelligent (What up, sapiosexuals!)
3. (Currently or previously) woman-identified (inclusive of trans* men)
...chances are I will probably be attracted to you.
However, I can say, for a fact, that I'm not interested in cisgender guys (you'd be surprised how many of those I get). Cis guys just don't do it for me, which I'm surprised I have to specify, since that's the textbook definition of "lesbian."
