My self-summary
I am someone who has been involved in acts of civil disobedience, feels strongly about my political views, and believes social justice is a phrase more people should use. If I didn't lose you with that let me add...I try to balance my life with fun adventures.
My vocation allows me half the year to play. When given an opportunity I enjoy hiking around Durango & Silverton. Hot springs are a great passtime, too. Spending time listening to live music is always fun. My travel has been mainly in North America but I am looking forward to expanding my horizons :)
What I’m doing with my life
Community service has been a huge part of my life but I am looking for adventure now. I've had the same vocation for over 25 years. During my free time I am found around artists, democrats, gardeners, musicians, & people trying to stay fit. So, basically, when I am not helping others I am out having fun.
I’m really good at
You tell me :) I'd like to say I can be ready for a weekend getaway within 2 hours...(but I'd have to know you quite well before I would actually consider it!)
The first things people usually notice about me
I am shy at first. Give me time and let's laugh. I will be listening intently to whatever you share so please go on about something fun :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Roots rock music or Americana with whole foods and a trail guide book make for a perfect day...

The list of music I like is long (and should begin w/Van Morrison). The last concert I went to was Marcia Ball (and I danced most of the time!) The range is wide. As I am Texan I am partial to Lyle Lovett, Flatlanders, and have a special place in my heart for Roy Orbison. Add in the Traveling Wilburys now :) Yes, I love many things about John Lennon but George was my favorite Beatle. Los Lobos and Santana are at the top of a list of Hispanic artists I enjoy listening to. There is a long list of female recording artists I appreciate: Bonnie Raitt, Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams are a few I've seen in concert. I love Aretha Franklin and too many more to mention. To be honest, I am an ol' hippie at heart.

The last movie I saw at the theatre was "42" before that it was "Skyfall" (James Bond), and "Lincoln." I loved "Hugo," "Wall-E," and almost anything with Jackie Chan. I rent dvds and recently enjoyed "Jack Reacher", "Silver Linings", "Argo," & "Zero Dark 30." I will admit seeing "Django" and found it disturbing but necessary.

Shows: John Stewart, Sunday Morning, Face the Nation...and (I don't watch much t.v.) Series I've enjoyed: Deadwood, Sopranos, Boardwalk Empire, World Cup (now that is a series!)

Food: I'm from El Paso where there is perhaps some of the yummiest Mexican food (I am entitled to my opinion) so I claim justifiable snobbishness here (call me choosey about my Mexican food.) I will eat almost anything...but I do appreciate good food (and that is losely defined!) The local, seasonal, and organic foods are my favorite.

Books: I am currently reading: The Spirituality of Imperfection.
Hey, about books, I have to mention how I appreciate James Joyce and his stream-of-consciousness novel ;-) Genius! Brilliant!
