I love getting to know new people. I don't think I've ever met someone who I thought was boring. People can't help it. Even the most ferociously tight-lipped are silently testifying about their call to silence. And I love how different two stories can be and still bring two people to the same place at the same time.
I hate that the day has only 24 hours, a week only seven days. I have never had a summer that fit between spring and fall, a weekend that fit properly in those two days. The greatest crime ever committed was sending a child to bed when the summer sun still lit the sky.
I don't exclude anyone based on race and am not terribly interested in anyone who does. And I'm totally into polyamory.
Awkward situations, mostly surviving them, on occasion creating them.
And movie scene/quote recall! As soon as they invent some way to plug my brain into a TV, I'll be able to just replay movie all the time. In fact, if you ever see me bust out laughing for no reason, it was because we just hit a funny note in one a several movies that are playing in my brain at most times.
'Gosford Park,' 'Angels in America,' 'LA Confidential,' 'Fight Club,' 'South Park,' 'How to Train Your Dragon,' 'Akira,' 'Grave of the Fireflies,' 'Tekkon Kinkreet,' the original Star Wars movies, 'True Grit' and 'Inception.' Any of the films of Pedro Almodovar. I just discovered Quentin Lee and I've every single one of his films that I've seen. I love 'Farewell My Concubine', but I have to be in a bit of a dark mood to be up for that film.
'Silence of the Lambs,' '28 Days Later,' 'Let Me In' and 'Prometheus' are some of my favorite horrors. I know Lambs sort of counts as a thriller, but whatever. Labels, lol.
Stranger by Smith and Brown, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions, Black Boy, The God of Small Things, Kick-Ass and Baby Rudin. I haven't finished the Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, mostly because I like Oscar too much and the foreshadowing isn't, well, subtle.
I had fried ice cream recently and thought it was compelling evidence of a good and loving God.
Calvin and Hobbes, of course. XKCD. Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. Piled Higher and Deeper. Occasionally, when I'm in kindof an overcast sort of mood, I'll read a bunch of A Softer World.
Domics, TheLuanLegacy, NigaHiga, HartBeat, RocketJump: FreddieW's channel, Swoozie, theGranVarones and of course ViHart.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is brilliant on multiple levels. Love it. Easily my favorite.
BBC's Utopia and Modern Family. I've seen every episode of American Horror Story through the third season. Video Game High School is high art. I'm kinda into Law and Order: SVU, but I'll probably deny it.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be Ricky from My So-Called Life. Heh, now I want to adopt him. I rewatched the series recently. And damn, that show is intense. The early 90s: I'm surprised any of us made it out alive.
If you've ever uttered the phrase "talk nerdy to me."
If you've ever been accused of reading too much into a movie.
Especially if you've ever been accused of reading too much into an animated film.
If you think I'm just irresistibly interesting, attractive or funny.
Or just irresistible :)
Or any other reason. I don't know. If there's a reason that I should put on this list that I haven't yet, let me know!
