My self-summary
So I used to be a pirate... seriously. Worked on a 16th c. replica of an English galleon. What the hell is a galleon, you ask? Ahh, history, sweet, sweet history. The tidbits of what came before us are important to me. That's why I have a MA in Historic Preservation. Don't worry, I'm not all work and no play: I'm also a champion Beer Pong player. Do they still call it beer pong? I graduated college in the 90s, perhaps my knowledge of what kids do these days is a little rusty. Speaking of kids - do you like them? I hope so, because I have two. Shut up - they're good people. Actually, they're friggin' hilarious. Wouldn't want to live without 'em.

Job-wise, I'm the Executive Director of a local non-profit. That basically means I get to wear Bossy Pants, but am not rolling in money. Unless you count the time last week I rolled around neked on the bed in laundry quarters.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, I'm trying to figure that out, aren't we all???? I'm am event planner for big corporate gigs ...
Sort of like being paid to be the grownup in the room. Also raising two awesome kids.

In terms of all the other stuff. IVe been divorced for about 2 years, and co-parenting with him... So we still get along well enough. I want to remember who I am, where I love to be, who I want to be with, and the things I want to accomplish. My kids are a part of me, but certainly not the whole story.

Sometimes, I consider going back to school. But sweet Mary Mother of God, I'm already in the hole for student loans, and have one Masters degree. Do I really need more? I think I'm just addicted to learning and need to find a more cost-effective way of doing it.
I’m really good at
I think I'm a bit of a chameleon. I can ease into a lot of different social scenarios, and get along with many different types. Want to go to a swap meet and hang with bikers? Fine, I'm happy with that, in fact I used to be the bitch on the back of a Harley. High-brow German film fest? Great, love it. Fashion week in New York, behind the scenes with jewelry designers? Yes, please.
The first things people usually notice about me
Aside from being a really tall drink of water? Probably my halo.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Whew. I hate this question, as if I am the sum of the movies I see and the food I eat. I'm pretty open-minded, but I'll give this a shot:

Favorite movies: Hope and Glory, Harold and Maude, The General, Au revior Les Enfant (I get stuck a bit in WW2)

Favorite books: Still Life with Woodpecker, Clan of the Cave Bear, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, Shalimar the Clown.

Favorite shows: Doctor Who, Vampire Diaries, Downton Abby, Lost.

Favorite food: LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Ethiopian food - the taste, the socializing, the eating-with-your-hands thing. Also very happy with home-made baked goods, BBQ meats of all stripes and varieties, and real mac and cheese.
The six things I could never do without
my kids
coffee
friends
a book - almost any book
35" inseam
access to "liberal media"
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Wondering if I've made the right choices. I mean I'm no spring chicken and I still honestly don't know what I want to do when I grow up. All I know is that time goes by far too quickly and I want to carpe diem, goddamit.
On a typical Friday night I am
My answer to this question would have been MUCH more interesting 10 years ago. Back then, I hot-wired a bulldozer, did shots off a stripper's boobs, and hitch-hiked through France. Now, I pretty much do laundry on a Friday night.... which is unacceptable. Kids sort of change you, right?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a Sunday School teacher, but not sure I believe in God.
You should message me if
