I want this kind of thing
I fell into data science over the past couple of years, which means I spend my days at a not-so-startup startup moving bits of data around to tell a story.
In my life outside of work -- I like to learn about and try my hand at making food and drink (sometimes to great success!). In the past couple of years, I've really gotten into making liqueurs and bitters. Helps to make my cocktail addiction slightly more affordable and varied. One day, I'd love to open a distillery, while using data to figure out how to make better and more interesting spirits.
Wanderlust + experience working on a flight search engine has made one of my hobbies something super silly, but sometimes so useful. Pretty frequently, I'll look up prices for flights -- sometimes, I end up on impromptu trips when it's too good to pass up. In the past year, I've gone off to Japan, Korea, China, Colombia, and Mexico, along with a bunch of places in the States!
MacGyvering my way to good food
In college, one of my residence halls didn't have a kitchen. An induction stove + water bath + vacuum sealer and a box fan for an exhaust formed the base of my guideline-violating in-dorm kitchen for the year. Now, I'm trying to learn more diverse flavors by cooking through my current Szechuan obsession, and probably starting on Northern Thai food next.
