My self-summary
Often reading, sometimes overclocked, almost never entirely serious. Will fix your jewelry for you. Got an English degree and, several years ago, read a lot of Beckett. In relative time, I've only recently stopped being defined by academics. Some days that's good, some days it's bad.
What I’m doing with my life
Gearing up for convention season. My hobbies entail enough travel to sometimes seem absurd even to me.
I’m really good at
making the second move to your first. Also, heavy-handed hints!
The first things people usually notice about me
Possibly my waist-length hair, though I wouldn't mind you complimenting my boots. They are fantastic boots (all of them).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Awakening, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Lady Windmere's Fan, Salome, Abhorsen, Lord Of The Rings, Lysistrata, The Name of the Rose, The Oresteia, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Cryptonomicon, Wicked, Lost, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, The Golden Compass, King Lear, Twelfth Night, Enough Rope, The Dragon and The Unicorn, The Ramayana, The Bhagavad Gita, The Privilege of the Sword, Neuromancer, Idoru, All Tomorrow's Parties, Burning Chrome, Sophie's World, Candide, Going to Meet the Man, Siddhartha, Death and the Maiden, Perdido Street Station, all in whatever order they occurred to me. Yeah, I'm not the sort of person that ever does well on those "if there was only one book you could take with you to a desert island" questions.

Movies: Waking Life, Pulp Fiction, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Gattaca, Hero, Spirited Away, Serenity, Mirrormask, Pan's Labyrinth, The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, Winter's Bone, and Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Shows: Sweeney Todd, Noises Off, Into the Woods, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and The Phantom of the Opera. And I sometimes play catch up with Elementary and Agents of Shield. (Also loved Firefly, the new Battlestar Galactica, and Torchwood.)

Music: Silversun Pickups, Earl Greyhound, Garbage, Tool, Warren Zevon, Bôa, Jasmine Rodgers, Electric Six, Cake, Peter Frampton, Muse, A Perfect Circle, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Lacuna Coil, The Radiators, Joe Walsh, The Grateful Dead, X-Japan, and Glay.

Food: Cajun and Indian are my favorites. Italian is good too, and if it involves braised meat or sauteed onions, it's probably a good bet.
Six things I could never do without
a great deal of books
my partners, snarkyxanf and jarofearwigs
a city to live in
a computer and internet access
a good pair of needle-nose pliers
a little bit of leeway (for questions like this and life in general)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
where I am and where I'm going. A little less about where I've been.
On a typical Friday night I am
on a choose-your-own-adventure! May involve First Friday, a sideshow at National Mechanics, or Boston. (The city. Megabus and I, we have an understanding.)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, for starters, I'm polyamorous and in open relationships with snarkyxanf and jarofearwigs. Not sure exactly what I'm looking for on this site; that will depend on you. And in person? I answer almost any and all questions. (I may refuse to answer your question. But I won't take offense.)

Ok, something actually private-- there are four places I've found where I can be happy just by being there. One was the stage. Two is Marlborough Street in Boston, between Mass Ave and the overpass. Three is Park Güell in Barcelona. And four is the Magic Gardens on South Street. I go as often as I can.
You should message me if
you enjoy saying hi to geeky girls, you want a cheap restaurant recommendation, or you need a buddy for Movie Monday. You should especially ping me if you need a date for the Magic Gardens!
