My self-summary
I am a mostly retired gay man just moved to a house/yurt/barn over in the eastern part of Vermont. Keeping busy with home renovations, 2 goats, 4 chickens, 3 cats, and a 17 yr old foster son. Keeps me on my toes for sure. Looking to adopt the right youngster.
I am mellow, self-reliant, and funny
What I’m doing with my life
Moving to a new home has been quite an adventure...now living close to Dartmouth and the Connecticut River Valley. Nice to have running water, grid electric, a paved road, and better space for my garden. It may sound crazy, but I will be taking my "imported" compost along with me. Planning has begun for a 2014 return trip to Norway. Fall update...now learning plumbing, roofing, and other moving related skills. I just might have gone over my head here with the repairs needed...and handy folks who would like to visit the north country are welcome. Shower is "installed" and the spare room is furnished.
I’m really good at
Listening and being a giving friend. Political and religious discussion and debate. Since I live "out here" the online contacts I have made are very important to me. Let's chat! I'm on FB, Gaysir (Norwegian gay site), etc.
The first things people usually notice about me
Who knows? I near-shaved my head, so that's a new look.

Anything by Robin Cook, Ken Follett, Robert Ludlum, Augusten Burroughs, Sebastion Junger... more to come as I walk around looking at the nooks and crannys. Currently enjoying The Smell of Apples by Mark Behr and,of course, The Revolution - A Manifesto by Ron Paul. Just finished Boy Meets Boy and Geography Club. Foods??? I love to cook and create interesting dishes from random ingredients. Not a fan of very spicy foods like some Indian, but willing to experiment. Am much more interested in organic gardening and non-industrial foods than I was a year ago.
Six things I could never do without
Good and healthy food

My online life and technology

My outdoor activities

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How to improve my life and be more social. Also how to improve my health and take better care of myself. After reading two books by Michael Pollan (The Omnivore's Dilemma and In Defense of Food) I am trying to purge the junk from my diet and enjoy real food (see above book for the definition of real food - you will probably be surprised).
How uninformed and easily manipulated American voters generally are.
On a typical Friday night I am
I am retired - wtf, is it Friday again already?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Share with me and I'll share with you! Seriously, I enjoyed watching Glee...but only by myself!
You should message me if
You want a giving friend and enjoy good chat. Age doesn't matter, literacy generally does. Sorry if my occasional random comments on profiles I find interesting and well written freak people out, but I am moved to write and I mean nothing sinister by them.
You are in Vermont and would like to hike or kayak (the eagle and ospreys are back on my lake) or SKI or bike.
