My self-summary
Now this is the story all about how...I came to have an OKC profile

(+) *Science'd-up brain * => People in my field like the term "high-throughput" a lot. These nerds get excited because this type of method can be used to find the rare compound or conditions or whatever that actually works for a specific application out of a huge library of those things. Very Edisonian. That's this, but with dating. I'm one of those nerds. I got excited.

(-) * Stubborn humanity* => This is a only machine to make money, a clever algorithm designed to nurture self-obsession disguised as socialization and starve the romance from my soul so that I can efficiently judge an endless stream of women who I will likely never hear, smell or touch, until the pursuit of a true connection to another human being is supplanted by an endless search for an extensive series of checked boxes. Or some such, it just feels a little brave new worldy.

(=) Add it up: OK, this seems preferable to a brute force effort to find a real connection with in the sea of people that is LA. You win this time, internet!

I hope you can extrapolate something useful from this.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a scientist. You know, with beakers and whatnot

I'm also of the philosophy that a balanced life is a happy life, so I spend a lot of time with friends, going on road trips whenever possible, being outdoors and generally doing things. Things are good.
I’m really good at
Humility?

*I'm just going to go ahead and change this to Things I Like*

Art - making and experiencing
Sports - rather participate than watch on TV
The desert - I grew up there
Gardening
Cooking - the secret is butter
Hand-me-downs
Nice people
Smiling back - oops threw up in my mouth a little there
Hiking/Camping
Cheese
The first things people usually notice about me
Wait, people notice me?
Nice.

I have heard before that it was a voice a little too deep for my appearance.

The Big Lebowski/The Skin I Live In/Back to the Future/They Live

Stranger Things/Seinfeld/Futurama/Game of Thrones

The best and worst parts of humanity (thanks NPR!)

color and light

Things to do with the pile of reclaimed wood I have in the shed

nature and physics junk

Why this profile always makes me feel like an asshole

Again, cheese
On a typical Friday night I am
Someplace where hearing my friends 2 feet away is a realistic expectation (notable exception: live music). Or at home painting. Or at the dog park. Wouldn't mind mixing in a few more nights in with drinks, music and bullshitting with a nice lady-friend.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have to restrain my use of emoticons :)
Also, I don't really like watermelon that much, I just eat it to fit in
You should message me if
Go for it.
I like kind, intelligent people and generally love women, but I'm not looking for anything too particular (or maybe I am, I don't know, I guess we'll find out). I just want to meet some interesting women; maybe I'll luck out and find the hobo-drifter to my can of beans*.

Bonus:
You think we'll enjoy some of the same malarkey or even have something deeper in common
You have a new adventure you want to try with a stranger from the internet
You're not a big fan of religion
You have an interesting accent (real or fake)
You care about social justice and like feminist men
You are not the jealous or controlling type
You like big dogs

If you, like, totally say like, like all the time. That's probably, like, not a good sign. Sorry.

*note: metaphor; To actual hobo-drifters - no beans for you here, fella. You just keep on movin'.
