My name is Eric. I'm an optimistic dude trying to find a balance of responsibility and fun in my life. I'm known amongst my friends for my hugs. I'm filled with enthusiasm for life and the future, both for myself and for humanity.
I love just hanging out and having lazy Sundays, but if I'm inactive for too long I need to get out of the house. I also love learning new things and having thought-provoking conversations. I love laughing and making people laugh. I love the rain and the snow.
I gravitate toward enthusiasm, a sense of humor and warmth above all else. I strive to find a balance between being responsible and fun. I'm majoring in Professional Writing (it's like being an English major except you can actually find jobs).
One day in high school I finally learned what real friends are. Ever since then I've been perfecting the art of the hug, because people who you care about deserve to be reminded as often as possible.
I doubt this is really true, but I feel like the only guy my age who, despite their career aspirations, only thinks about settling down someday. I remember when I was in kindergarten, everyone was asked what they wanted to be when they grew up. Everyone else said a job of some sort. I said I wanted to be a Dad. I'm in no way ready to get married or have kids right now, but that's still true. I've always been a romantic. Don't get me wrong, I want to do great things with my career, but at the end of the day, just being a loving dad and supportive husband is all that matters to me.
I'm also a nerdfighter. If you don't know what that is, I suggest you read a book by John Green (Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars are good places to start), or check out youtube.com/vlogbrothers.
I'm also good at tennis and ultimate frisbee, and will blow you away at Rock Band. I've dabbled with a bunch of real instruments in the past (piano, guitar, trumpet) but I've mostly stopped, with the exception of drums. I joined a quidditch team recently and it's been a blast so far.
Silly, yet thoughtful.
and I daydream. It's why I'd never trade my ADHD.

As for the world in general, I'm interested in how video games and the Internet are evolving into legitimate forms of entertainment. I find games and YouTube channels to be much more engaging than the majority of television, and when I do watch TV shows I tend to watch on Netflix. More and more people are playing games every year, and the argument that they're a legitimate form of art is gaining traction. It's exciting to see how they will grow and change as time goes on.
I also find naming statistics fascinating. For instance, names starting with the letter K became a lot more popular after Hurricane Katrina, weirdly enough.
You should most definitely message me if you want to talk about any obsession we have in common.
