My self-summary
"Every day it gets a little easier. But you got to do it every day. That's the hard part. But it does get easier."

My name is Eric. I'm a mostly optimistic dude trying to find a balance of responsibility and fun in my life. I'm known among my friends for my hugs.

I gravitate toward enthusiasm, easy-going people with a great sense of humor and warmth above all else. I strive to find a balance between being responsible and fun.

Let's run through the rain and catch some Pokémon.
What I’m doing with my life
I've been an off-and-on college student for the last few years, currently off. I'm working and trying to move forward. Not in a spiritual way. I'm just tired of college life and looking for something more serious.

I doubt this is really true, but I feel like the only guy my age who, despite their career aspirations, only thinks about settling down someday. I remember when I was in kindergarten, everyone was asked what they wanted to be when they grew up. Everyone else said a job of some sort. I said I wanted to be a Dad. I'm in no way ready to get married or have kids right now, but that's still true. I've always been a romantic. Don't get me wrong, I hope to do cool career things, but at the end of the day, just being a loving dad and supportive husband is all that matters to me. I guess that's the part of "adulting" I want to focus on in the long run.

I want a best friend. If love comes along, that's a great bonus. But if you just wanna go for a walk and catch Pokemon, I'm up for it.
I’m really good at
Making people smile. When a friend is feeling down, I can't help but try to cheer them up. I rarely have trouble getting people to laugh, although I know when to just sit and listen. If we're gonna go out, I like to make sure you have a good time. I always try to have a positive attitude and be nice. If you've met me, you know me for my hugs. If not, be prepared.

I'm also good at tennis, ultimate frisbee, and quidditch. I will blow you away at Rock Band. I will moderately impress you at Halo 3 and Rocket League. I will probably lose to you at Super Smash Bros.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height, and if I haven't gotten it cut in a while, my hair.
I'm friendly.
Silly, yet thoughtful. (I might be hesitant at first until I learn where our senses of humor overlap.)
Passionate.
Optimistic.
Fun-loving.
and I daydream. It's why I'd never trade my ADHD.

The six things I could never do without
In no particular order: my friends and family, the internet, music, pizza, a good IPA, and a warm bed.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How humor has the ability to bring about meaningful discussion and allow our emotions to be confronted without it feeling like the end of the world.

Not that I like sounding depressing or morbid, but how the future will turn out. I wonder what it'd be like if humans disappeared. The rest of life on Earth sure would be better off. Global warming would slow down. Maybe it's just constant subjection to the idea of Donald Trump being president that spawns these thoughts.

This is cheesy as hell, but how my family might be someday. I'm a sucker for love stories and romantic stuff. I imagine how I'll feel when I get married and when my kids are born. I wouldn't say I think about this "often," but I have a hunch I think about it more than most.
On a typical Friday night I am
Just hanging with friends and loved ones. It doesn't really matter what we do, but dancing, snacking, drinking wine and beer, playing games and watching stuff on Netflix--that tends to happen often.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not looking for casual sex. I probably wouldn't say no if a date went really well, but that's not the goal. I would much, much rather hold off on sex with someone I connected strongly with than get laid with someone who just said yes.
You should message me if
I'm interested in friendship as well as relationships, so just message me if you'd like to simply have an interesting conversation or two.

You should most definitely message me if you want to talk about any obsessions we share. I love nerding out with others.
