My self-summary
I'm a pretty relaxed guy who enjoys meeting new people. I love to go out and try new restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs, as well as music concerts and festivals. I have a wide variety of interests, especially in arts, history, and technology. I love to be outdoors, but also enjoy the bustle of busy cities. Travel overseas is something I absolutely love and everyday I miss being in Europe.
Let me say up front- I cannot see "likes".
What I’m doing with my life
Splitting my time between the various different interests I have, such as learning software coding, learning Irish (Gaeilge), trying new projects with my Raspberry Pi, and "valiantly" failing at cooking. I'm also a musician and enjoy playing guitar when I get a chance. Never a dull moment :)
I’m really good at
I am good at music and have a good eye when it comes to visual arts. I'm also usually good at making people laugh, but initially I tend to be more matter-of-fact as I'm getting to know someone.
The first things people usually notice about me
Not really sure.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like to read history, horror, and classic fiction. A few favorite authors are Flaubert, Twain, Poe, Hillerman, and Lovecraft.

Some of my favorite movies are Touch of Evil, The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, The Mirror (Tarkovsky), The Return, Blast of Silence, Without a Clue, and The Big Sleep.

I'm an absolute music junkie and love a wide variety of bands, such as Elliott Smith, Opeth, Sonic Youth, Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Nick Drake, Stars of the Lid, A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Tim Hecker, Porcupine Tree, NIN, Pink Floyd, Gravenhurst, Nirvana, Heatmiser, Sparklehorse, and Matt Elliott.

I love food from different cultures, especially Thai, Indian, and Mexican (the spicier, the better).
The six things I could never do without
-Friends and family
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the universe and everything (to steal a title from Douglas Adams).

But more specifically (a few things)...

-The impact our modern lifestyle is having on the planet and ways to personally be more responsible/less wasteful.

-Finding the balance between minimalism and materialism (I dream of a more spartan lifestyle, ha).

-Why I'm so fascinated by the past (way way before me past, not my past).
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't really know many people here, so on Fridays I'm usually at home working on music or watching a film.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I enjoy watching re-runs of Columbo?
