Seattle (policy, development, etc.), sports, design, deconstructing empire/oppressive systems/bad relationships, social justice, community development, art, music, spirituality, and people are strong interests of mine. I was brought up in the Catholic, Jesuit tradition (though I don't necessarily identify as one), and I've also encountered meaning (and non-meaning and everything in-between) in many other ways in the world. I'm excited that your life experience might reveal some things I've encountered and a whole lot of what I haven't.
Regular contact with spirituality keeps my willing impulses in a sharper, more discerning place. Meeting one-on-one with a spiritual director, as well as with multigenerational community groups keep me grounded in the real, important, and often nuancedly-messy stuff. I'm a work in progress. Always.
I sing in a choir while harboring a secret ambition to start a rock and/or roll band. I "slappa deeyah bass" and have the voice of an angel.
Coed rec league soccer or pickup basketball occupy my nights a couple times a week and have recently tried my hand(s) at boxing. I supplement that with gym visits a few times a week, so yeah, I like to stay active.
When I'm at the bar, I'm drinking an IPA or whiskey ginger (ale or beer). Or water. But everyone drinks that.
Movies: Coming to America, Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting, Happy Gilmore, Hook, I Love You, Man, and The Shawshank Redemption
Shows: Bob's Burgers, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Master of None, Twin Peaks
Music: Andrew Bird, The Beatles, Blue Scholars, Cat Stevens, Chromeo, Dr. Dog, First Aid Kit, Kendrick Lamar, New Order, Otis Redding, Paul Simon, Saintseneca, Sharon Van Etten, Sufjan Stevens, and Van Morrison. Spotify's Discover Weekly feature is creepily affirming. When driving, I listen to KEXP, oldies, or sports radio. But that's not music, so I'm not sure why I included that here.
Food: I'm allergic to fish and nuts (except almonds), so I'll eat anything that aren't those things. Selling organic fruit at farmers markets for a couple summers introduced me to the wonder of pluots. I really like hot/spicy/salty food. Filipino food is dope, too. But I just call that "food".
