My self-summary
Some fun facts about me:

-Love to travel, I've been to London, Japan, and Australia. Have plans for checking out South Africa with my old high school friends this year!

-NPR listener, Morning Edition is a must on the commute to work and I'm starting to get into Planet Money now too.

-Moved from the east coast over 10 years ago, so I have east coast sensibility with Cali optimism

-Can cook a mean spicy tofu dish!

I try to live my life by these 5 principles:

1. Keeping an open mind
2. Try to do some good in the world
3. Keep learning new things
4. Say what I mean
5. Don't be afraid of failure
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a chemist mixing and shaking stuff in vials and flasks daily. And it never gets old to wear a lab coat to work!
I’m really good at
...giving my partner her autonomy. I think it's really important that in a relationship to give each other enough space. Although, I'm totally there for my partner when we're together, I know it's still important to maintain a sense of independence to hang out with our own friends or have time for self reflection.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm relatively tall for a slant eye man, LOL
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Traffic, Full Metal Jacket, Shaun of the Dead, Fight Club, High Fidelity

Music: Depeche Mode (pre 2000's), The Smiths, Jean Michel Jarre, Daft Punk, most 80's (who doesn't like that decade?), Florence+The Machine, Pet Shop Boys, Kanye West, Chemical Brothers, Moby, Philip Glass

Reading: Mostly reading NY Times these days, some favorite authors include Chuck Palaniuck, Bret Easton Ellis, Nick Hornby
Six things I could never do without
1. Passport
2. My road bike
3. Like most people, my smartphone (never get lost with it!)
4. Friends
5. Parents
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What it would be like to be my own boss.

I have lots of great ideas that at some point in the future I want to flesh out and develop. It's just so much more satisfying when you know your toil and sweat go towards something that is more personal to you.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out and about with friends and coworkers trying a new restaurant and then grabbing a drink at our favorite watering hole.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I will admit, some of Katy Perry's stuff is pretty catchy :)
You should message me if
You enjoy conversation ranging from the intellectual to the quirkier side of life. We can talk about how to improve the environment one minute then go off on a tangent about what's the best whiskey (I prefer it with the "e") out there. My favorite is a single malt that's really smokey. If we meet up, I'll be sure to share it with you!
