My self-summary
back in the bay after five years at school in ny!

i'm a queer, tea and coffee-loving, craft beer-drinking, rainbow sea otter who likes to bake things?

(i have a baking tumblr: fuck yeah queer baking...i've neglected it a lot recently and am hoping to revamp it)

i'm a bay area native, spent five years in new york doing some undergrad/grad school shenanigans, and now i'm back enjoying the california sun.

INFJ, enneagram 9 wing 1, and total libra
What I’m doing with my life
just got my master's in women's history.
working that nonprofit life empowering low-income, first-gen students to graduate high school & college
I’m really good at
being everyone's therapist.
naming countries and Buffy episodes.

refusing to put up with cissexist, racist, classist, heterosexist, sexist, ablist, and sizist/body-shaming bullshit while still trying to be a loving, conscious, caring, understanding, gentle human being?
The first things people usually notice about me
the "i don't know what else to do with my face so i'm totally smiling right now" smile and chuckle.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
acoustic guitars, lady vocalists, angry girl music of the indie rock persuasion. literally just give me queer women/people in general making songs and i'm happy.

the current soundtrack to my life:
sleater-kinney, ani difranco, the indigo girls, the murmurs, dar williams, tracy chapman, chris pureka, hannah & maggie, missy higgins, harry nilsson (he's not queer but darn is his voice pretty).

things i have read multiple times and still love:
valencia, zami: a new spelling of my name, bastard out of carolina, the price of salt, assata shakur's autobiography, the bell jar, the unbearable lightness of being, la casa de bernarda alba, flannery o'connor's short stories, adrienne rich & audre lorde (did you know about their beautiful queer friendship? it fills me with joy), and shakespeare.

buffy (yes, i have seen joss whedon's "genderism" speech and no i did not like it), criminal minds, parenthood, friends, the mindy project, orange is the new black, friday night lights, twin peaks, bones (when it was good), my so-called life, daria, lip service, lost girl, the l word, american horror story, parks and recreation.

10 things i hate about you, across the universe, and...basically, if it's queer i'll love it/at least have a lot of things to say about it (my fave queer movies: better than chocolate & hedwig and the angry inch. least faves: kissing jessica stein & chasing amy because they are horrible).
also cuban films
and john hughes.
and many cheesy romantic comedies.
Six things I could never do without
the people i love and trust.
baking time.
acoustic guitars.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to be a better person.
how to be a better friend.
how to be?
On a typical Friday night I am
maybe in my room reading/watching netflix, maybe out to dinner, maybe drinking with some friends, maybe laying in bed listening to jill sobule's "rock me to sleep" on repeat.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
i have been known to tear up during the piña coladas song...
You should message me if
you are Leisha Hailey circa 1997.

but also if you want to hang out in real life and grab a coffee or something instead of just sending messages on okc!

in general, feel free message me, and let's hang out!
