My self-summary
I somehow wound up as a middle-class stereotype. I’m the proud parent of a dog and a sedan, I hold a PhD in English, I'm a professional writer and editor, and I was able to buy (well, get a loan to buy) my first house a year after graduating.

My favorite pastimes are reading, playing with my dog, and plotting the salvation or enslavement of the human race (it’s still sort of up in the air). I also really like table top games that involve cards or boards or dice (or all three). It’s not nerdy; you’re just boring.

My academic specialty was British Romantic poetry, but I've read lots of other stuff, too, like the other arts and philosophy and lots of sciencey things. If it's wildly impractical, I probably count it among my interests.

I’m a multifaceted person – quit trying to put me in a box, OKC.
What I’m doing with my life
By day, I write stuff for kids. By night, I use my knowledge of the literary tradition and theory to build convoluted plots and fill them full of asinine gags and a whole lot of poop jokes. Poop jokes are timeless. Just ask Shakespeare and Cervantes. Or Rome.
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
It might be my manners. It might be my quiet disposition. Both hide the roiling, acerbic wit.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
There's way too much awesome stuff in the world to list what I like at any given moment. But here's a bunch of stuff that I've compiled over the years:

TV: Dexter, Xavier: Renegade Angel, Squidbillies, South Park, Doctor Who, Invader Zim, House, Big Bang Theory, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, AbFab, Breaking Bad, Eastbound and Down, Workaholics, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Game of Thrones, Buffy, The Newsroom

The six things I could never do without
good books
my dog
a pair of running shoes
the universe
being able to count to six
I spend a lot of time thinking about
wtf "Aja" by Steely Dan is about.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sitting somewhere. Possibly walking.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't hate Ayn Rand. I don't agree with everything she says, either, but I at least took the time to read some of her essays and decide for myself. Hopefully you did the same with that preceding sentence.
You should message me if
you know some words and how to use them.
