My self-summary
Hi there! My name's Will and I'm New Jersey. I hope your day is treating you well.

I'm a nerd at heart, kinda first and foremost. I love video games, sci-fi of almost all varieties, fantasy... I read and write fun stories that just pop into my head, and I also play tabletop games with friends once or twice a month. I'm a renny (if some of my pictures didn't already clue you in), which means that I perform in and attend renaissance faires. I'm a singer, dancer, actor, and fighter that has been performing since 2005. It's a ton of fun and it's where I met a good portion of my chosen family. I'm a convention-goer and an amateur costumer and cosplayer. It's another fun hobby, and I hope to get better and better at it as time goes on.

Personally, aside from my utter nerd-dom, I'm someone who's devoted to people I call family, whether they came into my life through blood or by choice. I'm a recovering Catholic and a Pagan (and I'm totally willing to answer respectful questions about what that means). I'm also something of a hopeless romantic, and I feel just as good about dinner and a movie and walking around the streets of the city as I do with staying home and cuddling with someone. It's all a matter of the company I keep.

I tend to summarize myself a whole lot better when I'm actually chatting with someone. If you like what you read here, why not message me? I'm always up for making a new friend and seeing where it leads.
What I’m doing with my life
Currently, in between looking for more steady work, I do work for a friend's elderly parents helping them with whatever they need. I've done everything from general yardwork and housework to electical work, plumbing, carpentry, masonry. It puts money in my account and I get the satisfaction of knowing that I help people that I care very much about.

I'm also an amateur actor (voice and stage) and stuntman, having been a student of martial arts and fight choreography for 10 and 8 years respectively.

As some pictures may show, I'm also a burlesque performer with several troupes that perform all along the East Coast, but I mostly perform in New Jersey and NYC. If you want to check me out on YouTube (where I post a number of my performances), my stage name is Oliver Swisskey.
I’m really good at
Singing and Writing. Those seem to be my two cardinal talents. I love to sing, whether it's just rocking out in the shower, humming along while I write, or actually performing onstage or at faire. I love it! I've also been writing since around 7th grade, and I certainly hope that I've much improved since then! I like to write fantasy, sci-fi, romance... I regularly compete in NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) every November, where it's a race against time to write 50,000 words in 30 days. Admittedly, I'm also guilty of writing fanfiction, so sue me. In addition to the writing aspect, I'm also good at creating characters and personas for when I go to renaissance faires or conventions. I'll warn you now, I'm a HUGE geek.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height seems to attract a bit of attention, but also the fact that I actually hold doors open for people. It always brightens my day to hear a thank you :)

Also, people notice that I blush a lot, and very easily.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Harry Potter Series (books 3, 6, and 7 are my favorites), The Vampire Chronicles (Book V: Memnoch the Devil is my favorite), A Christmas Carol (the only one by Dickens I DO like), The Kite Runner, The Iliad and The Odyssey, The Once and Future King, and a lot more. I love to read.

Movies: The Batman series (minus Batman & Robin, which just never happened), Chris Nolan's Batman series, Clue (my favorite movie!), Star Trek TNG movies (except the first one, Generations), Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog, The Producers, Phantom of the Opera, Star Wars (the original trilogy), Serenity, and a lot more. I like movies, too.

TV Shows (since it seemed rather apparent): CSI & CSI: NY (I only watch CSI: Miami for Ryan Wolfe), Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Star Trek TNG, DS9, and Voyager, Firefly, Family Guy, Glee, Doctor Who, and a lot more. I don't watch a whole lot of TV, despite what this may show, but I do enjoy it oh so much.

Music: A VERY eclectic taste... You'll find, in my playlist: Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Aretha Franklin, Sam Cooke, showtunes, Lady Gaga, The Living End, Sum-41, The All-American Rejects, Panic! at the Disco, Britney Spears, The Charlie Daniels Band, Iron & Wine, Bo Burnham, Big Time Rush, Nobuo Uematsu, Beethoven, Carmen, and, again, so much more. I love music.

Food: I'm an Italian boy, so pasta is always big for me, as is pizza. I'm also no stranger to chinese take-out and sushi, mexican and cuban food, and of course, good ole american "cuisine" of cheeseburgers and fries. Honestly, I'll try almost anything once.
The six things I could never do without
-Renaissance Faires, Conventions, pretty much any bit gathering of geeks.
-Take-out, be it pizza, chinese, or whatever. It's a nice treat.
-My iPad, with all my creative ideas, musings, and whatnot.
-Musical theatre, with which I serenade my fans during my shower concerts. (Totally guilty of singing in the shower, as I mentioned)
-A vest. I love vests.
-Love, be it familial, platonic, or romantic... I couldn't live without the people I love.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my future. I constantly think about where I'm going to be, what I'm going to be, who's going to come into my life, who may leave, who I'm going to wind up with and, hopefully, raise kids with. I'm a dreamer even though I try to root myself in the now. There are times when I can't help but let my mind wander as to what may be in store for me.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with friends for a movie night, playing video games, walking around Rutgers University in New Brunswick... I have a pretty solid circle of friends. Other than that, I might also be at a rehearsal if I were in a show at the time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
ET freaked me out as a kid, and still kinda does. Enough said.
You should message me if
I strike you as someone you want to learn more about! I'm always on the lookout for new friends to chat with and, who knows, you may just strike me as someone I wish to know a little better. ;)

Besides, I make it a point to respond back to anyone who messages me.
