My self-summary
I still have a great life! I could stop there; but, let me tell you more: I am a native Oregonian and love Portland. I enjoy travel and have had the opportunity to experience many different places on the planet. While in college I found my passion, Improvisational Theater. I have performed, taught and facilitated this craft for 25 years and it still feels new and challenging. There is no better feeling than to make a living doing what you most love. There are people who say, "sure, follow your dream; but, you won't make a living." That is just not true! I have built some great friendships and get along with at least half of my family members. I believe in the power of humor and in the importance of being supportive and honest. I believe in purpose. I'm not a member of any specific religion. I would say that I have created my own and my belief system is an amalgam of several different teachings. My keys to a happy life are: Surround myself with positive and supportive people, Be able to laugh at myself, Be wise (yet generous) with my money and Don't blame other people for the choices that I make. I feel the only thing missing in my life is someone special to share it with (I've noticed a lot of people say that in their profile). I love smart, biting humor and am looking for someone who loves to laugh and can make fun of themselves and is prepared to make fun of me.
What I’m doing with my life
I spend time exploring my craft, laughing with friends and getting to know my new dog. I get to create and collaborate with some very talented and unique people, which keeps me feeling young and challenged.
I’m really good at
Friendship, listening and I have a quick wit. I get a safe driver discount from my insurance company.
The first things people usually notice about me
I think people remember my dry sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The funniest movie of all time is "Spinal Tap" with the audio commentary on. Modern Family is a very funny show. The best drama of all time is the second Battlestar Galactica (and my friends make fun of me for thinking that). I also seem to be drawn to shows where the hero is someone you would want to stay away from in real life, i.e. Dexter, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Sopranos, etc. I like British TV, especially Downton Abbey and their version of The Office. I watch Wonders of the Universe on the science channel. I read fiction and non-fiction. I'm currently reading The Twelve by Justin Cronin and Quiet, a book about the power of introverts. I like most food, except coconut.
Six things I could never do without
Performing on stage and creating laughter
Supportive friends and family
My dog (see photo above)
Being active, i.e. walks, runs, gym time
Having the confidenence in who I am to make mistakes
Having deep and honest conversations that, at some point, break into laughter then goes back to deep and honest.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My friends, finding balance, how the universe works, how early should I get to the airport and general funny stuff.
On a typical Friday night I am
If not doing a show or out seeing a show/movie, I am home watching a good dvd or out with friends. I'm open to new ideas for Friday nights.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have an uncomfortable feeling around spiders. Lately, I have been leaving my starbucks coffee on the top of my Subaru and driving off.
You should message me if
You have a passion in your life and want someone supportive and funny to share it. You are confident and love who you are; but, realize that you never stop being a student of life. You are not afraid to be vulnerable and make mistakes. OR, you need to practice your messaging skils.
