My self-summary
Odd, lapsed scientist, actor, writer, creative in the kitchen. I'm funnier than I seem -- less serious. I have no tattoos, no beard, my clothes aren't flashy -- I like things simple and elegant -- a touch dark. My walls are blank -- I've got a fertile imagination.
What I’m doing with my life
Writing. Reaching. Stretching. In perpetuity.
I’m really good at
Metaphor. Blending flavors. Focus.
The first things people usually notice about me
I look serious. But seriously, I'm relatively funny.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Shameless. Breaking Bad. Walking Dead. But enough about me...

Films by Alejandro González Iñárritu, Wong Kar Wai, and Ang Lee - Fallen Angels makes my heart swell, Lust/Caution rips it out.

Food - Cooking is the highlight of my day. I have a great big plate of fresh fruit every night for dessert. I exercise vigorously -- daily -- so I can eat whatever -- though lately I've been watching my cholesterol -- doctor's orders. My favorite restaurants are local haunt sorta places, though I don't eat out much these days. I'd rather cook.

No drugs or alcohol -- not because I'm making a point of it, but because I have little inclination. A sip of wine is fine, but that's about it. Alcoholics and otherwise druggies make me uncomfortable. While I love coffee, I've been undergoing an experiment for the past 18 months to see how I do without. I've reduced my caffeine intake to almost none -- I can say that there have been benefits, though I'm due to relapse. Actually, I do relapse now and then, but I still manage to keep things under control.

I was raised on The Cure and punk rock. More in general, my tastes, so I'm told, tend to be strange. Mostly, music comes to me via Pandora.

When someone asks what my favorite book is, I have to ask which genre. These days I'm spending time on friends' books while they spend time on mine.
Six things I could never do without
Coffee (actually, I've proven I can do without this).
A good sweat, at least once a day.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...machines that build the machines.
On a typical Friday night I am
...happy for the leisure to sleep a little later. Sometimes out to dinner. On free days, I walk all over the city.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
In suit and ridiculous powder-blue bowtie, I climbed an orange tree and hung upside down. I was 13. They said I was a man. I jumped from a bridge naked; everyone else was doing it, so...
You should message me if
...you just happen to know me and want to poke fun.

All others:

You're creative and proactive -- inspire me, I'll inspire you.

And... you're comfortable in your skin, and don't try to be adorable -- trying to be adorable is like justifying would-be humor in a dull joke. Humor should come naturally, and so should adoration.

And... you're sensible enough to wear comfortable shoes.

And... You're not crazy. Unusual/abnormal is fine, just not crazy. I've had enough crazy. Weird-crazy, scary-crazy. Enough!
