My self-summary
Open to finding a sweet kind lady. I run a non-profit called the Open Mind Project ( I cook. I'm good with kids. I don't have any of my own, but at some point I'd like to start a family. I'm afraid I might not find another intellectual with a passion for saving the world, but who knows? I'll settle for a tennis player with a good heart. Or at least the good heart part. Honesty is important to me. I'm a good dude with a lot to offer and a lot of love to give.
What I’m doing with my life
Pretty much trying to do my part to save the world.
I’m really good at
scuba diving, being pretty good at tennis and ultimate frisbee, hiking, reading, thinking, skiing, improvisational cooking.
The first things people usually notice about me
How is a person supposed to know what the first things other people notice about them? Asking maybe... but probably my smile and laugh, they usually don't stay hidden long.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Great Expectations and most Dickens except for David Copperfield, the Electric Cool Aid Acid Test, The Dao De Ching, pretty much anything written by Vonnegut. Movies: Bottle Rocket, the Royal Tenenbaums, and most Wes Anderson stuff, Ferris Buellers' Day Off, the Hours, Groundhog Day, I "Heart" Huckabees. Music: Culture, Israel Vibration, New Order, Lee Perry, and sometimes I do love some Willie Nelson. I DJ'd for a couple of years on a college radio station, so there is also plenty of interesting, strange, underground music to get lost in once in awhile when I need a break from the roots.
Six things I could never do without
Hiking, Books, Trees, Friends, Hope, Dreams.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what poor myths we are living in; how to improve them.
On a typical Friday night I am
Depends on the Friday. Live music is usually a good one.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Once after pretty much telling my whole life story to a psychiatrist, and I mean I told him the meaning of life and everything, and I thought he was sitting there scribbling detailed notes on my profundity onto his little notepad; I happened to glance down on my way out and saw that all he had written down were four words: "Moved around a lot." Se la vie.
You should message me if
you have a good heart, are honest, and caring, (and I know that sounds sappy). But seriously, if you are a good person, then say hello. Oh, and if you play tennis that's a double super bonus.
