My self-summary
I'm curious, authentic, easy company, and I don't play games.
I am interested in subtleties of the moment, simple pleasures, people being good to each other, having fun and noticing details, ...being playful and laughing. And below but close to the surface I am very smart, sharp, and serious. I've always loved being near strong intellectual stimulation (my mom's the bookish one and my dad's pretty brilliant), though I don't need to be constantly intellectually engaged or immersed myself. I find so much of life interesting and intriguing on many levels. I do miss crowded NYC cafes where I'd overhear great stories that would spark an adventure of my own, or alert me to an event or book to check out - but I enjoy the calmer pace here and the trees & sky. I've lived in 5 states (grew up in New England) and I have friends all over the world who I wish I could visit more often and more easily.
I like meaningful conversation and the company of thinker/doers, clever design, interesting homes, healthy food, blue skies, being fit, neighborhood walks, doing projects together. Comfort trumps style though aesthetics are a significant kind of comfort.
I'm not so interested in politics, government, religion, or sports but when I do tune in it's to NPR, Colbert, John Stewart or the NYT.

I believe in taking responsibility and in paying it forward.
What I’m doing with my life
I am looking forward to the next chapter! which I'd like to share with someone smart, playful, loving, and generous. I split from my ex-husband in '09 and have been balancing my life inside and out in nice ways, spending more time with friends, renovating my house, and enjoying the independence and flexibility of having my own business.
I’m really good at
Words with Friends, being a good friend, noticing unusual details, making connections and observations in conversation, I'm always learning something new.
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile, a grounded sense of self confidence. I've been told by many that I light up a room.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I enjoy The Moth podcasts and other true stories or interviews on public radio or on line - fun to listen while doing things. I like to attend lectures where people talk about their experience, expertise, or perspective.
I love reading on trains or while walking! Recently read Stephen B. Johnson's "Where Good Ideas Come From" and the Steve Jobs bio (good combo, by the way). I lean toward Booker Prize winners, or contemporary fiction recommended by others but haven't read much lately.
I love movies, esp @Midtown/Tara. Mostly indies, some mainstream, documentaries, shorts. I wish I could see all the Academy Award nominations.
I'm not big on TV and tend to make running commentary throughout (can't help it)! Watching a full season of something interesting (with others) can make a cozy weekend.
I love music as craft and appreciate others' talent. My iPhone has a wide selection, mostly from friends' collections.
I love theater; musicals & fluff not so much. It would be great to see good local productions.

Food: fresh & healthy. Eating out I prefer appetizers, several choices & sharing to eating a big meal. Local, farm-to-table, unusual flavor combinations (like rosemary ginger blondies or toasted sesame ice cream!), interesting experiences, something "different." More quality/genuine; less pretention/ceremony. Over the top can be really interesting on occasion. I will definitely have an opinion!
Six things I could never do without
My senses
High thread count sheets
Veto power
Companionship & affection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Projects. Every day is different. My thoughts are more in the present and in the future than in the past. How can I play more and do less?! How can I make something better?
On a typical Friday night I am
My work isn't 9-to-5 so it varies - sometimes I don't know it's Friday! I might attend a social event with friends, see a movie, go out to dinner, stay in and be cozy.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
...is to being a girl, wanting to be cherished, adored and treated well, protected and provided for by a loving hero.

What, you thought I was going to say something different?
You should message me if
You're curious and want to know more.
