I've gone through a lot of hard times during my life, both as a kid and an adult and it made me who I am and made me strong. It also helped me learn to live in the present, enjoy every moment and just 'be' in the world. Maybe growing up did that too. :-) I'm not a buddhist, but I'm loving the reading I'm doing on how to experience strong emotions - fear, happiness, anger - and not act or react - just experience the feelings and appreciate that that is what living is about.
I'm a mom and I love being a mom. My kids are hysterical and they make me slow down and have fun. I'm divorced, it was hard, but the right thing to do. And now I get to experience something new that life has to offer. I've always felt that the meaning of life was to experience everything - even the uncomfortable things - and while I didn't expect to be single again, it is another chance to explore and find joy in meeting new people and building a new kind of life. I'm actually excited because I think of my week with my kids as fun, games, soccer, dance, cuddling time - and then I have a totally different week to spend exploring who I am, finding new adventures, learning new things. I can't think of anything more exciting than getting the best of both worlds and living in the present of every moment. I'm looking for someone who - at some point - would love hanging out with me and my kids, and also love the freedom to explore and have fun when we can't be with them.
Outside of work - I'm filling my weekends with activities and fun. Whether it's with my kids coaching soccer (although I am not a soccer mom! haha!) or finding fun projects around my house, going out with friends, getting away for the weekend... whatever fun thing I can dream up. I love to dance - so am thinking about learning to LindyHop or Salsa. Don't be intimidated if you don't want to learn - that's totally fine - but if you do... well let me know! I have a friend at work who plays the guitar so I'm getting back into singing - just casually - but maybe we'll perform for my 40th birthday or something. Sugarland, Sara Barielles, Sheryl Crow and a little Pink (although my voice is a little sweet sounding to cover Pink!).
But I'm open to try whatever my friends like too - just let me know and we'll go!
And - sometimes people laugh but - I'm a sci-fi/fantasy gal. I went toe-to-toe with a developer on Firefly references and have watched all the Stargates, Star Treks, Star whatevers that have ever been. Love reading too, Terry Prachett, Harry Potter... and yes even Twilight. :-)
