My self-summary
Hi, my name is Zak.

I'm fundamentally ridiculous, and although I often have a glower on my face I'm probably just thinking about something silly.

I'm looking for someone basically great to alternately explore or hide out from the world with. Hikes, adventures out exploring LA, standup comedy and drinks with friends, balanced out by DVDs and books, home cooked food, geeking out, and wonderful wonderful couches.

Although I try not to take life more seriously than is necessary I do value people who take care of each other and aren't stingy with unnecessary kindness. Oooh, and I can neither snap nor whistle, sorry if that's a deal breaker.

Other than that, what matters?
What I’m doing with my life
Thinking about my two newborn nieces.
Working in television as a Post Production Supervisor.
Training for my second 10k.
Correcting my international travel deficiency.
Trying to figure out Vedic Math, not doing well.
I’m really good at
Finding something to laugh about.
Kicking the crap out of a To-Do list.
Winning staring contests with dogs.
Surprisingly good at bear wrestling, I assume.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably whatever mistake I made getting dressed this particular day.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a geek born and raised, but I love a wide variety.

MOVIES: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly; The Incredibles; Coming to America; Robocop; The Princess Bride; Thank You For Smoking; Pan's Labyrinth; Sky High; Escape From New York; Big Trouble Little China; about 2000 others, many of which don't even feature guns.

BOOKS: Homicide; Devil In The White City; Ender's Game; Easy Rawlins mysteries; Great Gatsby; Wheel of Time; Smiley's People; Dune; IT; overly specific historical non-fiction; Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Gail Simone, & assorted comic books. I'm usually slowly working on a couple of books. I'm currently reading Wool, and Chasing Aphrodite.

TV: Doctor Who; Firefly; The Wire; Three's Company; DC animated; Parks & Rec; It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia; Northern Exposure; Sherlock; The Shield; Like everyone my age about 20% of my brain is shaped by The Simpsons.

MUSIC: My musical tastes are at least 10 years out of date. I love Johnny Cash, The Ramones, They Might Be Giants, Nina Simone, Journey, Queen, but am always open to being shown music from people who are still alive.

PODCASTS: Savage Love; How Did This Get Made; Planet Money; Stuff You Missed In History Class
Six things I could never do without
-Tortilla chips & craft beer
-Occasional silence
-The feeling of being useful
-Nice people
-Old movies at the Egyptian
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to say to Batman when we meet
On a typical Friday night I am
Laughing over nonsense with friends, happily reading at home, checking out some standup comedy, ruining a good recipe, or working. These days, working.
You should message me if
You are damn cool, even if no one else thinks so. If you have a kick in your step and haven't quite given up on the world, give me a yell.
