How do you define a man? By the fact that he earns his money as a programmer? By the fact that he loves his profession? By the people in the world he cares most for? (Actually, you should ask them what they think of me, and form your own opinion...) By the subjects that he likes to talk about? (From Lojban to philosophy, the geeky humor in the latest movie he saw to his favorite books, from the progressive, liberal social political visions where money is not as important as it currently sounds to the way that he always seems to find a way to defend the decision that someone made but you don't like).
Do you describe him using his love for life? His easy laughter? The way he keeps trying to work out regularly? His love for nature and good food? His warmth and friendship?
Have you ever thought that you can learn more from what a person asks, than from his answers?
You can call me Bart. I love trying to make life more beautiful for anyone I care for (and I care a lot). I can be dreamy and hard to follow, and even though I'm introverted, I can be very outgoing.
I've been classified as an INFP, and I can agree with that.
Like many people, I find it hard to tell you about myself. But maybe it's better to learn what kind of person I am by talking to me.
I don't want that. I am also using my life to enjoy many good things. Friends. Playing games (no, not just computer games). Listening to music. Going to a concert. Walking or riding a bike (oh wait, I still have to fix my bike...). Swimming. Watching TV with friends, or going to the movies. Your general "average Joe" pastimes.
I am trying to enjoy every moment of it. Even the moments that are not generally classified as "the happy ones".
I can design and write software. 'nuff said.
I can care for people. For you. For my friends. I can usually see what someone needs, or see what they really mean. Unless they want me to get it, ironically I can be as blind as a mole sometimes. But mostly that ends in a facepalm and a lot of grinning. So I'm probably really good at making people smile. Which I love.
Ouch... look at the length of this :o I am apparently very good at talking, erm, writing about things. I might rewrite this to make it shorter and more about me :)
Also, people sometimes think that I may be gay, but only because of my caring and smiling, I like to think that I am hardly feminine at all.
Then again, people also notice that I have a hard time believing compliments. I do accept them, and blush as expected, but I rather think that they are flattering me, than that I believe their compliments to be true.
Oh, and I say "sorry" and "thank you" waaaay too often. I'm sorry, thank you for telling me.
Oh yes, and did I mention that I am generally caring and nice? And tend to be impressed by what I say, sometimes?
Movies: SciFi and moreover Fantasy are high on my list. ((Children of) Dune, El Laberinto Del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) and Hogfather are examples). But also "fuzzy" life-is-good-movies like Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain (Amelie from Montmartre) and Peaceful Warrior are very appreciated. Less so movies that are just about the action and violence (I know I am kind of a softie), although Ninja Assassin and 300 were interesting in their own kind of way.
TV: I like most comedies, but also tend to go towards fantasy. How I Met Your Mother, Castle, Dr Who, shows that require little thought and make you laugh about life. Watching series is entertainment and a light-hearted pastime for me. But shows that need a bit of intelligence to get, are also quite welcome. I enjoyed Breaking Bad, and at the moment I am completely engrossed with The Mentalist. It's quite wonderful.
Books: Yes! Books! Let me read, and you made a friend! I read the Da Vinci Code, I am a fan of Terry Pratchett (Discworld), Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time), Frank Herbert (Dune, but I never got far, I should start again), Terry Goodkind (Sword of Truth, also not finished), but reading in general is one of my favorite hobbies.
Food: You can feed me almost anything. In the Philippines I loved to eat "Sizzling Sisig", I love Indonesian food (my grandmother was born in Indonesia, although you can hardly tell that from my looks (if you look carefully, you see it in the corners of my eyes, the way my eyelids meet)), but also Italian, French, anything really. But come to think of it, I'm not really fond of Brussel sprouts or chicory. And although I like my meat, I would not mind being a vegetarian (I love to eat tofu and salads), but I think I would have a hard time eating no more fish. So maybe more of a ovo-pescetarian or something.
The possibility to write software (I'm a real geek in that, sorry :P)
A gadget of some sorts to play with.
Good books or movies to spend the time.
A hug once in a while :)
Intelligent conversations, I guess, would make six.
How you can be happy without knowing it.
How to enjoy my next moments (although I try to be taoist about that).
