My self-summary
My mom tells me I'm a real catch.

I'm a transplant from the liberal oasis that is Austin, TX, and as such, I'm partial to say "y'all" and the occasional ironic "howdy".

From Austin I moved to Seattle for a Ph.D. program at UW, studying genetics. I loved it -- partially because I love science and partially because geneticists are, hands down, the dopest people on the planet. Believe it.

After a few years, my interests lead me elsewhere. Those interests developed into a digital business, and for a while I traveled around doing fun stuff while building my business. Most recently, I hosteled solo through Europe for the summer (2015). Here's the color-coded spreadsheet I compulsively used out of fear that I would book something for the wrong dates. In between trips, I nestled down in Portland, Oregon.

Eventually, I sold out and threw myself into the grind -- now I develop software at Google in NYC, and I absolutely love it.

During one summer in grad school, I interned as a science reporter at the Oregonian through the AAAS. That was pretty neat. If you're into science, you can read some of my articles here.

I'm a slut for fresh linens, seasonal cocktails, and the Oxford comma.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to experience as many things as possible and get a little bit better at a lot of stuff every day.

I'm kinda obsessed with various fitness stuff: weightlifting, rock climbing, slacklining, mobility and flexibility. I also enjoy karaoke (only at public bars -- it's much more exhilarating than a private room), hiking, and cooking.

And of course, I always love meeting new people.

I’m really good at
Overusing parthetheses (sometimes they get nested (sometimes that gets messy)).
The first things people usually notice about me
When I run into people I know in public, I sometimes say "hi" well before we've reached a comfortable distance for communicating. And then we have to kinda stare at each other and smile awkwardly for another 50 feet.

Now, make various assumptions about my personality based on my tastes in things.
Six things I could never do without
Based on my recent spending, I apparently value a solid wifi connection over potable tap water.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Fitness, weightlifting, food, travel, sex, science, mathematics, mindfulness, vulnerability. All at once.
On a typical Friday night I am
pretending that bars are really good places to meet very interesting people
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm a bit of an exhibitionists. My roommates disapprove. Or, at least, they did, when I had roommates.
You should message me if think it's so 20th century for women to wait for men to approach them

Or, you know, if I messaged you first, maybe you should reply to protect my frail, frail ego.
The two of us
